About

We think skills should be practised, not just described.

Peridot is built by Canestack Labs, a small product company in Lagos. We build it for institutions that teach skills people use on a computer, and for the students who deserve to practise them before the job, not on it.

Why

Practice is the expensive part

Good teaching is everywhere. Machines to practise on are not. Peridot makes the practice part cheap enough for every student.

How

Built to be affordable

Every student gets their own computer in the cloud, for far less than an institution pays to run lab machines.

Where

Built in Lagos, for anywhere

Our first courses are Nigerian where it matters, like ICAN and the naira in the ledger, and universal where it doesn’t.

Principles

How we build Peridot.

Real work, checked

If a skill can be checked on the computer, we check it there. Multiple choice is the exception, not the rule.

The right tool for each step

A terminal, a ledger or a spreadsheet: each step gets the tool the job really uses.

Honest status

We mark what is live, in progress and coming, on every page. Nothing here is a mock-up presented as shipped.

Staff stay in charge

Nothing reaches students without a member of staff approving it. The tutor helps; it does not mark.

Work with us

Pilot partners shape the product.

Our first partners decide what we build next. If you teach a practical subject and want a say, we would like to hear from you.

Pilot

Send us one course. Get labs back.

Pilot Peridot with one course for one term. We build the labs with your staff, and you see every result.
